Marriage proposals and weddings are no longer a private affair these days, as couples take a step further, by making their special day known to all.

Early this year Malaysians saw how an accounts executive proposed to his girlfriend with a RM14,000 diamond ring via a huge billboard advertisement placed along the Damansara- Puchong Highway (LDP) in Kelana Jaya.

This time around Parisign general manager Henry Tan decides to take the expensive step by displaying his wedding photos at bus shelters around Kuala Lumpur.

The 25-year-old does not only want to share the pictures with the public but also want to be remembered as the couple they saw at bus shelters.

Of the 16: A bus shelter in Jalan P.Ramlee sporting the couple’s wedding photos.

Tan has placed his wedding photos at 16 bus shelters in the city centre, at a cost of about RM150,000. But he has no regrets.

The idea came to him after a holiday in Monaco two years ago when he saw how a French man proposed to his girlfriend using outdoor advertisements at strategic locations in the city.

“When I saw it, I told myself that I too would come up with such a creative idea when I find my soul mate,” said Tan, whose family supported the idea.

Why bus shelters?

Tan said he had a special interest in bus shelters after the company put him in charge of designing such shelters in various parts of Kuala Lumpur.

However, Tan’s wife Cherry, had no inkling of the plans her husband had up his sleeves, including accompanying workers to paste the pictures at the shelters before he heads to work in the morning.

Cherry said she never dreamt that she would one day be the talk of town this way.

Act of love: Tan cleaning one of the photo boards of his wife before it was fixed at a bus shelter. He thinks nothing of accompanying workers to paste the pictures at the shelters before he heads to work in the morning.

“I have always admired girls whose boyfriends go to such lengths to propose,” said the 22-year-old, who only found out about her husband’s project when her friends told her that they had seen her wedding pictures at bus shelters.

“I am surprised and happy about it,” said Cherry.

Tan said it was a surprise present for his wife and also to share with Malaysians just how important repetition was in advertisements.

“When they have seen enough of us then it would have marked that our message has been successful.

“We encourage couples and families to do the same for any occasion, be it weddings, birthdays or just to wish someone well,” said Tan.

Okay I understand that people with too much money would spend in something totally unnecessary but eye-catching ideas to grab people’s attention. But do you want to know my comments in this bus-stop idea?

I don’t mean to be rude and to nose in other people’s decision or even being judgemental… but being a Marketing Executive, I have learnt many things about advertising areas. Bus stop, is one of the big NO-NO!

Why? Imagine having your wedding placed at the bus stop areas. Fine, you’ll get to SHOW OFF your love to your wife. But wait… wait for 1 or 2 days later… and with the publicity by the newspaper… your face will be vandalised with beard, moustache, black teeth, mole, and even writings saying “I’m with stupid”!

That place is where most students and potential vandals hang around to wait for the bus! With a simple permanent marker pen or a liquid paper, one can do much damage on the highly-paid advertisement at the bus stop.

This is MALAYSIA where vandals are famous for their ‘artwork’!

I give credit to the person who advertise on a billboard earlier this year to propose to a girl. Now that is more feasible and properly placed! EVERYONE can see that.

Bus stop?

NOT A GOOD IDEA!

Anyway, congratulations to the happily married couple! Maybe you should question your advertising agency as to why they didn’t give proper suggestions for advertising ideas.

*No offence*

Now we all have to start worrying about taxi drivers as well! They rob, rape, and even kill!

Driver of bogus taxi admits to stabbing and robbing woman

By Steven Daniel

KUALA LUMPUR: An unlikely chain of events led to the arrest of a suspect who was believed to have stabbed a woman four times and left her to bleed to death.

The victim, Lee Hui Fun, was found unconscious in Jalan Maktab, Kajang, on Friday morning by policemen on patrol duty.

Coincidentally, a man driving a taxi, was involved in an accident with a motorcycle at 4pm along Jalan Ipoh.

The motorcyclist, who confronted the driver of the taxi, saw a bloodstained handbag on the rear passenger seat. The suspect then panicked and made a run for the Perkim Building car park.

Bound: The suspect with his hands bound before he was taken to the police station, and (below) the ‘taxi’ driven by the suspect. — AZMAN GHANI/ The Star

However, he was caught and beaten up by several passers-by. It was then that the suspect, in his 30s, shouted “saya bunuh satu orang sahaja (I only killed one person)”.

The suspect apparently believed he had killed Lee, not knowing that she was fighting for her life in hospital.

The suspect was handed over to the police and during interrogation, admitted to have committed the offence in Batu 9/11, Kajang, hours earlier. He was later taken to the Kajang police station for further investigations.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Shakaruddin Che Mood yesterday confirmed that the suspect had been arrested. He said police were still investigating if there was a second suspect involved.

A source said there was a possibility that Lee was driven to a location where another person was waiting, before she was robbed. It was also believed that Lee put up a struggle before she was stabbed and left for dead.

The 33-year-old clerk from Taman Kencana, Pandan Indah, had boarded a taxi on Friday morning to go to a monorail station on Jalan Sultan Ismail. However, the taxi took another route, prompting Lee to call her husband Chow Chee Ming, 34, at 8.40am.

Chow, when met at the University Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital yesterday, said she called a few times as he could not hear her clearly the first few times.

“I managed to hear her clearly during her last call at 8.50am, saying the taxi driver was taking her somewhere else.

“She also gave me the number plate of the taxi she was in,” Chow said.

“Then, I heard her shouting in Chinese ‘he’s got a knife, he’s got a knife’, before the line got cut off.”

Lee, who has two children, is reported to be in stable condition.

The taxi’s number plate was shown to be false when checked against the Road Transport Department’s online system.

Are we Malaysians to expect such nonsense to continue? Where is the ‘Malaysia Boleh’ and embracing the new 2020 when the people are still backsliding towards barbaric era! This is pure nonsense! Next thing we can see are men running around with clubs hitting people and hunting on animals to feast!

Malaysia is not moving towards a better future. We are seeing more and more people committing crimes as they get desperate due to many reasons.

Firstly, the education standards are way lower than what is given in the advanced country. When I watched the famous programme “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader” I was even stunned to see how a simple 5th Grader knows so much! It was then I realise that the things that I learnt are too basic and not too useful in helping Malaysia develop!

Secondly, the gap between the rich and poor are widening more and more! This is a huge problem as the rich are getting richer while the poor and getting poorer. Next we will expect a huge social status problem! Looking at Australia, the gaps between the rich and poor cannot be seen at all! A friend’s cousin who works only as a cleaner for offices can afford a beautiful Honda Accord! The government on Australia takes good care of their people!

Racial is also another issue. Though this is a multi-racial country, we can still see many are uncomfortable with other races. They will continue to stay with their own kind. Even when I dated an Indian guy (I am Chinese), my mother totally disapprove of such problems and only expect me to be with my own race, Chinese. So can we expect a better multiracial country here? Maybe… at my generation I have seen many of my friends who prefer to date a person of another race. It is only the older generations that are trying to stop us. So don’t try. A way of expecting a country to develop is to have everyone to stay with each other as united!

Well these are the main reasons. I’m done talking about this country.

IPOH: A missing teenage girl was found dead in the boot of her boyfriend’s father’s car in Chemor, near here.Police recovered the gruesome remains of Yee Wei Qing, 17, at about 3am Wednesday after the brother and boyfriend had alerted the authorities about her disappearance.

The 35-year-old brother, Yee Si Van, told reporters that he first went to the boyfriend’s house at 6pm on Tuesday to search for her, only to learn that her wallet and mobile phone had been left behind.

He and the 18-year-old boyfriend then lodged a missing persons report at the Kuala Kuang police station.

When they returned, both of them realised something amiss at around midnight when the boyfriend’s father refused to come out of his bedroom.

“Every time we asked him to open the door, he told us not to disturb him as he wanted to sleep,” he claimed when met at the Ipoh Hospital mortuary.

“Accompanied by policemen, we broke into the room and saw what looked like bloodstains on the floor. The father also tried to keep us from going near the bed but we found her shoes covered with newspaper under it.”

Their search then extended to the father’s Nissan Sunny car.

Inside the trunk, Yee said he saw what looked like a “white sack” before the policemen stopped them and told to wait for the forensics unit.

Perak police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah said Wei Qing, who had head injuries, was found fully dressed. She was not tied up.

A search of the scene revealed bloodstains and a piece of wood which might have been used as a murder weapon, he said.

“We cannot confirm the cause of death or whether she had been raped until the post-mortem is complete,” he told reporters Wednesday during a police function.

DCP Zulkifli added that police have detained the father and the boyfriend to assist in investigations.

“Police became suspicious with the boyfriend’s story when he reported her missing and so our men went to the house to investigate.

“I believe the body would have been disposed off if we had gone there any later,” he added.

Just reading this news today gives me to creeps down my spine. I wonder what is the reason for the killing. Doesn’t seem like she is being raped though. What if I date a guy who has a father like this? I mean.. ouch! I bet the father really hit hew few times just to knock her out!

At this era us girls have to be fully aware of our surroundings and even our loved ones. Sometimes people can just go crazy and kill even their own family members. Hey! Even a grandfather can have the guts to rape their granddaughters!

Crazy world with crazy men. How are we to live in this world?

Let’s just say, if girls are no longer existing in this world. Just imagine with me alright? Maybe due to some special disease that kills all women. Or there are getting more crazy men raping and killing women, what will this world be?

I am guessing… men would rape men! Serious! If not these crazy men would rape animals. I’m not talking about normal men okay? Crazy men!

WEIRD!

BANTING: Two groups of protesters caused a commotion in front of the Kuala Langat district council office here yesterday over the Selangor Government’s plan to set up a centralised pig-farming project in Ladang Tumbuk near the district’s border with Sepang.

Some 100 people gathered there at 3.15pm and started arguing, but the police and the council’s enforcement officers managed to calm down the two groups, who were from Umno and Pakatan Rakyat.

Kuala Langat district police chief Supt Muhammad Radzi Ishak said the protesters dispersed half an hour later without any untoward incident and no one was arrested.

For (left): A banner outside the Kuala Langat District Council expressing support for the project in Banting.

The largest group of protesters, numbering about 90, was led by Sepang Umno division information chief Nisman Yusof, who held prayers, hoping the state government would change its mind and stop the project.

Wearing green and orange T-shirts, the protesters also showed their annoyance by putting up banners proclaiming that the people of Sepang were against pig-breeding centre in their area.

The banners also showed caricatures of the coalition partners of the Pakatan Rakyat Selangor government.

The other group of about 10 supporters of Pakatan Rakyat was for the project and put up a banner featuring Barisan’s Tanjung Sepat assemblyman Datuk Dr Karim Mansor showing a thumbs-up sign at a pig farm in Germany with the words Saya sokong (I agree).

A banner hitting out at DAP, PKR and PAS for supporting the project.

The Umno supporters tried to tear down the banners. Dr Karim opposes the project.

Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim recently announced that the controversial RM100mil integrated pig-rearing project, which he said was approved by the former Barisan state government led by Datuk Seri Dr Khir Toyo, would proceed.

What the heck is wrong with the pig-rearing project? Seriously? Are pigs really a nuisance to the Malays?

See this is the reason why most students ended up studying overseas and getting a PR there. and never coming back to Malaysia. And I will be one of them very soon too! Australia here I come!!

“I have a diploma in education but never pursued a degree because I had to work and raise a family.”

Abdul Karim said his seven children, aged between 23 to 38, and grandchildren, from five months to 16 years, were his inspiration in pursuing his dream.

“All my children were academically successful. They were the ones who inspired me to continue my studies,” he said, adding that he planned to sign up for Master’s degree.

Five other senior citizens also graduated at the convocation opened by USM Chancellor Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail.

Now this is what I call DETERMINATION. If you look at one of my uncle, it is one of the disguisting thing I have ever seen. Why? Cause he is so darn rich he bought himself a PhD certificate without even going to any universities!

I got so disguisted I totally lost all respect for him.

If you are so rich, then why do you even want a PhD? That is because he wants himself to be called Dr ABC.

Nonsense.

Next thing you know he might get himself a ‘Datuk’ title by PAYING high price for it.

Another major disgrace I have seen within the rich community. Where did they get their education from… the toilet bowl?

Congratulations to Abdul Karim Yahaya!

Why do I like to blog so much? Is it because I don’t have a life at all? Is it because I would rather sit at home than hanging out with my friends?

Well there is a good reason why I love blogging. Take a look at the picture below!

Yes! I am blog and make money for myeslf!!

I have been earning a side income for almost a year and every month I have tons of money to spend on! The only thing I need to do is to blog about certain products or services for an advertiser. Once I am done, I just sit back and wait for the money to be sent to my bank!

Don’t worry, it is genuine money being sent to you. If not I would not even waste my time blogging about it. I guess I am very thankful to try it out when I first know about this. Better to try than not knowing at all! Registration is free!

I have so much money I bought myself brand new mobile phone few months back and just last week, Play Station!

Seriously, try it out! Head out to bloggerwave and sign in. Then start earning extra income for yourself!

WELCOME TO MALAYSIA BACKSTREET BOYS!!

When I first entered into the world of music and bands, my very first love was the Backstreet Boys! Gosh I can remember the effort I did to collect as many posters as possible. Then pasted them all over my room and when I ran out of spaces, I started pasting them on my cupboard doors. When I ran out of cupboard doors to paste… guess where I pasted the posters next?

The ceiling.

I know! I was crazy and that time I was only around the age of 16-18!

I even collected numerous tapes of their concerts at many different countries and buy every album, singles and remix (original production mind you) and watch/listen so often when during my sleeping hours!

Now at the age of 24, I have lost all these crazy girlish life. BUT, I am still loyal to this band up until today. One of their hit, Inconsolable, is BEAUTIFUL. After all these years, they are still producing songs that portrays many meanings in life of every individual in this world.

*Picture from The Star News
It is just too bad I won’t be able to make it for tonight’s concert *sob sob*. I have lost my interest in attending concerts with huge crowds that pushes around. I have lost touch in screaming crazily for hottie Nick Carter, sweet Howie, cool AJ, gorgeous Brian and sexy Kevin. *Oops! Kevin won’t be around tonight…*

Unless I have a backstage pass to meet this artiste, I shall stay home on my working week and take a good rest for another days work tomorrow. Only because I know I can never get near them from the crowd!

See, when I want something, I want the best! So when I want to go to a concert, I want a backstage pass! ESPECIALLY the BSB concert!

Anyhow for those BSB fans out there, if you think you might not get the chance to attend this exclusive concert just because I can’t be the 4th caller in MixFm or something like that, you can always head out to Sunway Lagoon Ticketing Counters (Surf Beach and Main Entrance) to buy! I am very sure you will be able to get those tickets.

I guess I will be catching their concert in the television when I can see a closer look on their faces!

Oh how I wish I can meet them… :???:

—————————–

Today marks a sad occasion for all who are part of a family, a fan, and a follower of a legendary Hong Kong actress. A lady with a ‘Smile of Prosperity’ (that is what I always say) and a signature dark rimmed glasses, she was always a happy-go lucky person. She constantly reminds me of the adorable Laughing Buddha who is never sad nor down. Everywhere she goes, her smile and distinctively recognizable voice can be seen and heard from a distance away that pulls all fans and followers towards her. I know I would should I be able to see her from afar…

Lydia Shum Fei Fei passed away at the Queen Mary Hospital at 8.38am this mornin due to the fact that she was slapped with the infamous liver cancer (of which it is one of the easily infected problem to everyone should they not watch their lifestyle or through genetic).

*Photo from www.thestar.com.my

During her journey to recovery, Lydia Shum went through a mile (or even more) to fight for her life and everyone (family, fans, and followers) were very supportive. After her intense battle and successfully fought through several problems like cholangitis, diabetes, hypertension, 32 gallstones, tumor and cancer around the gallbladder, she later collapsed at her home after being attacked by pleural effusion and was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, then, transferred to Queen Mary Hospital.

A trully sad journey at that period because Lydia Shum’s mother passed away in Canada while she was still in the hospital receiving treatment.

Lydia Shum was once a great actress and comedian constantly appearing in Hong Kong films back in those wonderful days. Born in Shanghai, China, Lydia started her acting career in Shaw Brothers and extended her interest in acting through TVB’s numerous movies and dramas.

Looking at her relationship life, Lydia Shum married the actor-singer Adam Cheng and then divorced due to certain circumstances but they and had a lovely daughter, Joyce Cheng Yan-Yee.

We will trully miss this wonderful ‘Smile of Prosperity’ lady. She is now a free spirit without any pains or suffering. Of course, she leaves behind her wonderful family and I send my utmost sincere condolences to her dear family.

You will always be remembered as the lady with the ‘Smile of Prosperity‘ to me!

Remember my previous post about the latest upcoming Petronas 2008 commercial by Ken Wong Woon Kian? I finally manage to watched the commercial during the Chinese New Year and it was really heart-melting. Seeing the Chinese boy not knowing what to draw when the teacher gave an assignment to draw a picture of family reunion. It was even more sad to see the boy giving a fake smile as he waves goodbye to his friends who were taking a ride or walking home with their parents (maybe looking forward for a reunion dinner).

As he hugged his Indian care-taker as a sign of sadness knowing that he has no family reunion dinner to attend, I almost teared feeling so sorry for him. Then, they walked home of which turned out to be the home for orphanage.

I guess it is very important to remember of our family and to never forget the important part of the Chinese New Year tradition, Family Reunion Dinner.

Think about it my Malaysian friends, during the Chinese New Year season, we get to see numerous advertisement that consistently remind us about Family Reunion dinner. Just like Hari Raya, Deepavali and Christmas, every of these important festive season has a meaning behind it.

FAMILY.

It is also important to remember of the poor, unfortunate and the orphans during these seasons. Hey even if we are not able to head out to any orphanage place to have a fun time with those who are needy, it is never wrong to atleast donate some of your angpow money to those who REALLY need the money.

Remember, family is always the very first in our lives. Even more than ourselves. Family is worth more than anything valuable or precious in this world.

Petronas will never ceases to amaze us Malaysians. At every Malaysian festive season (that excludes Christmas), a touching 2 - 3 minutes story reflecting the lives of different cultures according to festive seasons.

Few years back we were able to endure through painful laughters when Petronas screened out the infamous Diwali / Deepavali Commercial. Of what seem like a simple comedy, it sets its true meaning behind all and to remind all Indian races to remember their true identity and family companionship.

	<param name=wmode" value="transparent" />

It is true that most of us have forgotten our backgrounds, identity, family, cultures, and for some… religion.

Petronas never fails to remind us over and over again at every Malaysian festive season to sit down and look back at our golden days when family and identity brings everyone together as one.

This year, we have a remarkable young man whom fought through hundreds of other applicants for the Chinese New Year Petronas commercial. Being the youngest shortlisted candidate ever to occur in Petronas, Ken Wong Woon Kian’s script embraces the reality of life without family especially during the festive season.

This commercial will give a smack on everyone’s face as a great reminder of the importance of family presence around us to endure our complains, support our decisions, carry our burdens, and celebrate our achievements. This commercial will also touch the lives of those of share the same fate or have the sympathy for them and thus, bringing more generous people to celebrate together with the orphanage at many needy homes in this country.

This Chinese New Year, let’s all have a memorable festive season with our family and friends. Remember the poor and needy always and bring them the joy that you share with your family.

Happy Chinese New Year!
